Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms of conventions of real media products?
Key Conventions Of My Magazine Cover
I decided to make a video of myself analysing the key conventions I used on my front cover of my magazine. I made this video on Movie Maker in order to be more creative.
My Real Media Inspiration I decided to create a GIF of my final magazine cover and a Billboard magazine I was inspired by. I did this to quickly show the comparison. It is clear that there are some similarities. For Example, the colour scheme, Mast head, cover lines and medium shot image. |
Question 2: How does your media product represent different social groups?
In order to answer this question, I had to analyse what social groups my magazine is targeted at. I used a Prezi in order to demonstrate how social groups were influenced throughout my magazine. I came to the conclusion that the following social groups had big impacts in the magazine:
1. Ethnicity
2. Genre
3. Location
4. Gender

Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Magazine distributors are not something I have thought about during my research, planning and construction process, so therefore I took some time to do some research in further depth into this question. I researched a variety of music magazines currently in the UK market and found out which companies they are distributed by. I then decided to focus of 3 distributors and find out some more information about them, in order to get an insight into their success through the ways they distribute their products. I researched the following magazine distributors:
1. Bauer Media Group
2. Time Inc
3. Prometheus Global Media
I used an EMAZE slideshow in order to show my findings. I concluded that Prometheus Global Media distributor was most suited for my magazine.

Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
I used the software called Prezi in order to show a Facebook profile of my ideal customer I'm targeting to read my magazine. During my research and planning section of my coursework I decided that I wanted my target audience to consist of both female and males between the ages of 13-29 years old. I came to this conclusion as I felt it would be the most appropriate age group for my genre of pop as I learnt from my research that the pop genre generally target that age group. In wanted the magazine to be gender neutral so it can appeal to more people, and also avoid any gender inequalities. I also feel that music doesn't have specific gender groups, as the pop genre can appeal to any gender.
Below are some images of people from my target audience, holding pieces of paper stating who exactly would be part of my Ideal customer profile. These factors are qualities that i feel my target audience would need to have in order to be the perfect customer and enjoy my product the most.
Question 5: How did you address/ attract your audience?
Target Audience Responses To My Front Cover
I decided to ask people from my target audience for some feedback of my final product, in order to see whether they would purchase it and if my research, planning and construction was a success of failure. I asked the question 'Would you buy my magazine? If so, why or why not?'. I filmed the responses on my I Phone and edited the video together on Final Cut Pro. I then uploaded it to You Tube.
Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
In order to respond to this evaluation question, I have decided to make a Prezi to show all the software's and technology I have used throughout the research, planning, construction and evaluation process of creating my final product. I have gained many new ICT skills throughout this project, which will help me a lot in the future. I have widened my knowledge on many software's such as Photo shop, Final Cut and Weebly. I have also looked at ways I can use social media to interact with my target audience. Overall, I feel I have used many creative ways of showing my ICT skills in media.
Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
For this evaluation question, I took time to look back across the whole creation process to reflect on how far I have come since the preliminary task leading up to my final product. I have learnt so much during the research, planning, and construction process as i have stated below on my mind map.
I used power point to compare my preliminary task VS my final product. As you can see there are major improvements i have made since the start which shows I have learnt a lot, which I have stated in further depth on the slide.
I then analysed my work and looked for self improvements for next time. It is important to do this, as it can help you in the future to make your work more improved.
